ADR (automated dialogue replacement, or additional dialog recording).

Also known as a looping session or postsynchronization, ADR is a rerecording of original captured dialog in the studio to improve sound clarity, diction, and timing. Most feature films and television shows use at least some ADR.

animatic.

A series of still images edited together and played in sequence to create a simple mockup of a scene’s visual flow.

blocking.

The movement and positioning of actors within a scene.

breakdown.

A script analysis extracting production elements that will be assembled into lists and simple databases for purposes of scheduling and budgeting. An example would be identifying and inventorying all props in a script to have that list available ...
