No matter how good a website may be, it can only be really successful if the "unbiased" visitors who search for websites that are of interest to them discover it rather than just fans and the initiated few.

In order to achieve as large of a circle of interested parties as possible, good placement in the relevant search engines is an absolute must. A few years ago, there were a number of more or less respectable operators that promised Top Ten positions in "all" search engines.
