Providing access to server methods – code permissions

Microsoft has published a very good article on how to create a code permission under AOT security at http://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/gg880012.aspx. To augment this article with a real-world example, we will build a feature that calls the service that updates the vehicle group. Code access permissions come into effect when the method has the SysEntryPointAttribute decoration.

This decoration has three outcomes:

  • The method can be added to a service
  • The code must run on the server tier
  • The code will not run unless the user is given the specific permission to do so
