NGINX downloads are available for two separate branches of NGINX code—stable and development. The development branch is the one in which active development is taking place. Here is where new features will be found and integrated before finding their way into the stable branch. When a "development" version is released, it has undergone the same QA and a similar set of functional tests as the stable branch, so either branch may be used on production systems.
