In the previous chapters, we have mainly focused on the existing dbms_scheduler functionality—things that are not new in Oracle 11g. In this chapter, this is going to change. Here, we will get our hands on the most important addition to the Scheduler—the remote job agent. This is a whole new kind of process, which allows us to run jobs on machines that do not have a running database. However, they must have Oracle Scheduler Agent installed, as this agent is responsible for executing the remote job.
