Outside the Box

Most audio productions will include at least some amount of material generated “outside the box,” meaning the sounds are created somewhere outside of the computer. This might include acoustic musical instruments, vocals, spoken voice-overs, sound effects, or any sound that might come into the computer from a microphone or other source. And since much of the sound you will work with inside the computer starts out there, it’s the best place to start making sure things sound good.
