3.1 Introduction

As the project manager evaluates a project to determine what type of project structure of activities will be used, information needs to be analyzed to determine the requirements of each activity throughout the project life cycle. As you have seen in Chapters 1 and 2, “Planning Schedule Management” and “Project Activity Requirements,” respectively, it is critical that the project manager has accurate and reliable information for each work activity because this will be used during the development of cost estimating and the creation of a project schedule.
