Why is a supply chain different? And how it’s changing
The simple answer to the question about why a supply chain is different, is that it involves many moving parts, whether the chain is in one country or globally. Sub-outsourcing is the same. Understanding multi-tier supply chains is challenging. In some ways, transparency is hard (or at times impossible) to achieve.
And the world has changed. International trade has boomed thanks to tariff cuts, cheaper communication and lower-cost transport, particularly since 1990.
