Chapter 14. Final Thoughts

You’ve covered a lot of ground in this book. Let’s recap what you learned. You started with an overview of Salesforce reports and dashboards and their use cases across departments. Then you learned foundational knowledge of Salesforce’s data model, permissions, and reporting concepts. From there you stepped into an overview of reports and then on to using the report builder. You even saw how formulas extend your abilities to solve reporting challenges.

Next, you dived into dashboards and saw how to create them. You learned how to organize reports and dashboards into folders and how to use folders to control access to them. Then you saw how the new Analytics tab has introduced a one-stop location for accessing reports and dashboards.

In the final chapters of this book, you saw how report types are the data foundation of reporting in Salesforce and how powerful they can be to create custom report types. You learned about the importance and use cases of embedded analytics and mobile analytics. Finally, you also discovered the power of trending and the many ways you can accomplish it in the system.
