Injection Molding
16.1 Introduction
Machining can only produce products that have surfaces that are accessible by machine tools. These are surfaces that do not have complex shapes and/or do not include geometry that is hard to reach on machine tools. Injection molding is a manufacturing process that is capable of producing any shape made of materials such as plastics or polymers. Many plastic parts—such as bottles, toothbrushes, bottle caps, car parts, and wires—are injection molded. Injection molding is widely used in various industries, including medical, consumer, automotive, health care, and toys.
