13.4. Extending Inventory on Client Desktop Computers
To discover desktop clients that have mobile devices syncing with them, the hardware inventory for these desktop clients needs to be extended. Microsoft provides the Device Management Inventory Extension as a predefined package definition, available by default when you enable mobile client support within Configuration Manager 2007. This package is required only for systems running Windows XP and older, because Vista has this capability already built in.
