In the past, an upgrade or migration of Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 to Configuration Manager 2007 was typically not an easy process. You could migrate the environment side-by-side manually or by using scripts, but at the end of the process you were not able to monitor the migration of the objects. In many cases, a new Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructure was created next to the old SMS infrastructure and the objects that were needed in the new Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructure were re-created by hand.
