Functions of MATLAB 

MATLAB is a little bit different compared to R and Python, as the code will be written first on the MATLAB interface and only then you pull the data in a Script_ function. One example of a MATLAB use case from the Tableau Online Help is the visualization of the shortest route (you can find it here: https://www.tableau.com/about/blog/2017/8/put-your-matlab-models-and-algorithms-work-tableau-74016). The following calculated field will call a script on the MATLAB server and only the fields from the Tableau Dashboard will be added as input variables, with TSP/GetLatLongVector being the script on the MATLAB server and AVG([Longitude]), AVG([Latitude]) being the fields from Tableau: 

SCRIPT_INT('TSP/GetLatLongVector', AVG([Longitude]), ...
