11.5. Applying Permissions
Now that we have covered a good bit of ground, it is time to set permissions on the stuff inside SharePoint. Several different objects that can be secured are in the SharePoint system. A securable object is an object upon which permissions can be configured (for example, a site, list, library, folder within a list or library, list item, or document). Permissions for users and SharePoint groups can be assigned to any securable object. The SharePoint system defaults to assigning permissions at the Site level, and those permissions filter down through permission inheritance to the contained objects such as lists, list items, and the like.
