2.1. Survival of the Fittest: The Myth of Total Security
Total and complete network security is a myth. Our belief in that statement comes from experience, but why total security is a myth really comes from the system model as explained in Chapter 1. If you think of your network as a pseudo-organism that lives in a constantly changing environment, it's not hard to see how your systems are constantly evolving to respond to the demands and threats placed upon them and how those threats (again, seen as co-existing organisms in a media and Internet-connected environment) change themselves to be more and more effective.
