UCG AS A CHEMICAL REACTOR

The underground cavity and its surroundings can be considered as a chemical reactor. The complex interplay of mass transport and reactions that occurs in underground coal gasification (UCG) provides the perfect foil for analysis in terms of reactor hydrodynamics and kinetics. The distinctions between phenomena occurring at the cavity roof, floor, and the channel near the production well have to be framed in the context of a reactor, for best performance.
