Chapter 5 Learning curves in machine learning
5.1 Introduction
The Oxford English Dictionary defines artificial intelligence (AI) as “The capacity of computers or other machines to exhibit or simulate intelligent behavior; the field of study concerned with this” [262]. At present, progress in various fields of human activity is largely determined by the increasing use of AI [263]. Psychology, mental health in particular, is one of the more recent areas of focus for AI [264, 265]. That is why we consider it appropriate to introduce readers to the features of machine learning (ML), which in the framework of this manual is the analysis of learning curves of AI.
