Experiment 1: To find the moment of inertia of a fly-wheel about its axis of rotation
Apparatus: A fly-wheel, different masses, a mass provided with a hook, a strong and thin string (thread), stop watch, a meter scale, a vernier calliper and chalk
Theory: A flywheel is a simple heavy wheel with a long axle supported, in bearings, and it can rest at any position. It is possible as the center of gravity (CG) lies on the axis of rotation of the wheel.
