The School of Mādhava in Kerala

7.1 BACKGROUND

Probably the most famous school in Indian mathematics, and the one that produced many of its most remarkable discoveries, is the guru-paraparāor “chain of teachers” originating with Mādhava in the late fourteenth century and continuing at least into the beginning of the seventeenth.
