Removing Hindrances
The process of improving information assets is a negative one. That is, it is a process of monitoring the enterprise, looking for situations where information assets are depreciated, and then taking steps to enhance the information’s value. The noted architect Christopher Alexander wrote:
I should like to recommend that we should always expect to see the process of achieving good fit between two entities as a negative process of neutralizing the incongruities, or irritants, or forces, which cause misfit.
