Chapter 7. Rigid Body Effects
Maya's rigid body dynamics are a set of tools that allow you to simulate interactions between hard surfaces. Maya calculates the physicaleffects of objects reacting to forces, otherobjects, and different types of constraints, saving you time on what would otherwise be a verydifficult animation to keyframe. However, rigidbody dynamics can be a little tricky. The systemisn't perfect, so it's best to think of a rigid body dynamic simulation as a starting point. Once you have your simulation working properly, it's usually a good idea to "bake" the dynamics into keyframes, which can then be edited and refined in the Graph Editor.
