802.1X authentication  A standard authentication protocol for passing EAP over a wired or wireless LAN.

access control list (ACL)  A list of who can access an object and the type of access granted.

Active Directory (AD)  A directory service that uses the “tree” concept for managing resources on a Windows network. It stores all information about the network resources and services, such as user data, printers, servers, databases, groups, computers, and security policies. In addition, it identifies all resources on a network and makes them accessible to users and applications.
