Chapter 1. Implementing and Configuring a Windows Deployment Infrastructure

Windows deployment has changed dramatically since Windows Server 2003. New deployment technologies have appeared, such as ImageX and Windows Deployment Services, along with new considerations such as deploying virtual machines and implementing a Windows activation infrastructure. Consequently, there is much to learn about the seemingly elementary topic of Windows deployment, even for experienced Windows administrators. This chapter introduces you to the many new deployment technologies and concepts you need to understand for both real-world deployment and the 70-643 exam.
