The Internet Information Services (IIS) platform includes capabilities for sharing information by using several protocols. The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) provides a standard method by which computers can transfer files and other types of data to each other. It is commonly used on both internal networks and the Internet to upload and download content. The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is a standard method for transmitting email messages. It is often used by web applications to send notifications and communications to users’ email addresses.
