Managing Internet Information Services
In the previous chapter, we covered some of the basics of configuration and management of the IIS components. We’ll now go into more detail on these topics, focusing on monitoring, management logging, and backing up and restoring.
In the previous chapter we used only Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to configure IIS. There is also a command-line configuration tool called AppCmd.exe (or AppCmd). This tool is used to view and configure IIS settings. There are even tasks that must be done in AppCmd, such as setting the automatic history backup and performing a manual configuration backup, both of which we will cover later in this chapter.
