Fracture propagation in a naturally fractured formation
A criterion for hydraulic fracture to cross a natural fracture (NF) is first presented in this chapter. A computational model for simulating fracture propagation in a naturally fractured formation is then developed. The results are discussed and compared with field cases. The propagation of shear slip in a NF is also presented and discussed.
