The objectives of this chapter are that, after studying it, the reader should be able to:
- Identify interface requirements and how they can be realised: buffers, handshaking, polling and serial interfacing.
- Explain how interrupts are used with microcontrollers.
- Explain the function of peripheral interface adapters and be able to program them for particular situations.
- Explain the function of asynchronous communication interface adapters.
