Creating Multilayer Effects

Sometimes more than one video clip needs to play at once. For example, you may want to have an interview in the corner of the frame overlaid on video of the subject being discussed. You might want to blend two or more clips using chroma keys or other effects. It may even be as simple as superimposing a title over video.

All of these are examples of multilayer effects. The most common multilayer effects can be found in the Blend category of the Effect Palette and include Superimpose and Picture-in-Picture. There are many third-party plug-in effects that allow you to create more elaborate composites and effects.
