Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of consumer health in the community college setting, sharing ideas and information on the place of community college libraries in consumer health efforts. Section one explores the unique setting and role of community colleges within higher education in the United States. Information needs of different patron types are outlined in the second section. Next, the chapter continues to analyze the community college by looking closely at consumer health information issues including concerns regarding staffing, access, services, and organization of materials.
