3.3 POINT WEIGHTED LEAST-SQUARES METHOD
In this section, as a truly meshless technique, the point weighted least-
squares (PWLS) method is developed. Two sets of distributed points are
adopted and they are called the eld nodes and the collocation points. The
eld nodes are used for the construction of trial functions, in which the
radial point interpolation technique, based on the locally supported radial
base function, is employed. The collocation points are independent of the
eld nodes, and are adopted to form the total residuals of the problem. The
