7.1 INTRODUCTION
Several practical engineering problems relating to microelectromechani-
cal systems (MEMS) and marine devices are simulated in this chapter.
First, the xed–xed and cantilever microswitches are studied for their
pull-in instability voltage under the inuence of electrostatic force by
meshless vPIM. Second, microoptoelectromechanical systems (MOEMS)
devices are also simulated by meshless vPIM. Third, microtweezers are
analyzed by the LoKriging method and the meshless Hermite-cloud
method is applied to simulate nonlinear uid-structure analysis of near-
bed submarine pipelines under current. ...
