Some of us have a love-hate relationship with our IT team. We love them when they recover a file we accidentally deleted forever just as we’re scrambling to meet a deadline. We hate them when, suddenly, Apple TV, YouTube, or Netflix quit working on a corporate device because it’s not work-related. As if! Do we really have to prove that Ted Lasso is critical for gaining leadership skills that can be applied in whatever role we play in the organization?

As someone who straddles both the end user and the IT domain, it can be challenging. As an early adopter, I push how far I can go with unsanctioned apps on my laptop because sometimes it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. At the same time, my role in solution architecture requires that I work with IT teams to ensure technologies are deployed and adopted with the proper governance to protect corporate data.
