A number of years ago, there was a great controversy regarding the future of the Data Access Objects (DAO) model, which was the way to manipulate data in the Joint Engine Technology (JET) that underpins Microsoft Access, and whether Microsoft would continue to support the technology. At the same time, a new technology called ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) was emerging. However, with the advent of Access 2010, the JET Engine technology, has been rebranded as Access Connectivity Engine (ACE) and became the inheritor of the DAO technology—which has given DAO a new lease on life.
