Installing an additional object server

There are two main reasons why you would install an additional AOS into your live environment, scaling out roles (for example, users, batch task processing, reporting, and services) across multiple servers or adding resilience to your infrastructure.

Clustering in AX is not handled through Windows Server (such as Exchange and SQL Server), but through its own technology. If a server fails, the clients will be disconnected (any in-process task in progress will be rolled back) and the client can then relaunch, connecting to another server in the cluster depending on the configuration.

Clustered AX object servers don't fail over to each other, neither are the user sessions attached to one AOS moved automatically ...
