Installing web services on IIS

As part of the system design, we need to decide where to host the various AIF integration ports.

The main options that we have (excluding the ports written specifically for a purpose) are as follows:

  • NetTcp
  • MSMQ
  • Filesystem
  • HTTP

NetTcp ports are always hosted by AOS, and HTTP ports are always hosted on IIS. NetTcp ports are typically the best option, especially when communicating with parties within our organization; however, to expose a port to an external party or a service that isn't joined to the domain, we would use HTTP ports.
