Open Data Services (ODATA)

Open Data Services (ODATA) is a standard way of communication via the REST protocol that allows filtering, sorting, and choosing the columns returned and more.

The Microsoft CRM 2011 web services are divided and defined into three main groups:

• Discovery Service (SOAP protocol)

• Organization Service (SOAP protocol)

• Organization Data Service (ODATA protocol via REST)

To easily see these web services’ definitions and get the URL addresses of the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) documents within Microsoft CRM 2011, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings, Customizations (see Figure 26.1).
