This chapter introduced you to Exchange Server 2007, giving you the background you need to delve into the Exchange Server architecture in detail. It described basic concepts, including how an Exchange environment is organized, how different types of information are stored, and how services work behind the scenes to accomplish the many tasks that Exchange Server performs. In addition, the chapter gave an overview of the new features in Exchange Server 2007. The next two chapters take a deeper look into the Exchange Server/Active Directory integration and into Exchange Server 2007 architecture.
