Once you have set reasonable purposes and goals for your cluster project, the next phase involves designing the system that will achieve them. At a high level, this is little different from designing a system that is intended to host a single-purpose service in a non-virtualized environment. You first identify the expected load and then architect a solution that can comfortably bear it.
