Call Translation Rules

All versions of Communications Server require dial strings to be normalized to the E.164 format. This is necessary for performing reverse number lookups (RNL). Often, downstream components such as PBXs, SIP trunks, or gateways require numbers in local dialing formation. It is sometimes necessary to modify downstream components or even reroute calls to accept the E.164 dial string.

Lync Server enables administrators to create rules that assist in manipulating the Request URI prior to handing it off to the gateway. For example, a rule might remove +44 from a dial string and replace it with 0144 to allow a gateway to handle the call properly.
