Chapter 11. SQL

Lync Server, like many Microsoft applications, depends on SQL as a back-end storage mechanism for topology, configuration, and application information. Most administrators will likely choose SQL 2008R2 as their SQL of choice based on the fact that it contains the latest tools, technologies, and security features from Microsoft. This chapter covers installation of SQL 2008 R2 as it pertains to a Lync Server implementation and introduces Lync Server administrators to some management tasks of SQL 2008 R2.
