Media Bypass

Media Bypass is a feature that allows Lync endpoints to send a G.711 audio stream directly to a device on the opposite side of a trunk, as opposed to sending the media through a Mediation Server. For Media Bypass to work, the following requirements must be met:

• Media Bypass must be enabled on the SIP trunk configuration. The centralized media processing option must also be enabled on the trunk.

• Media Bypass must be enabled at a global level.
