Creating Voice Routes

Routes are used in Lync Server to direct calls through a specified gateway or a set of gateways. Routes are processed after numbers are normalized based on a dial plan, and they determine which gateway will place a call. Creating a new route has the following options:

Starting Digits for Numbers That You Want to Allow—Routes are based only on a matching pattern. Enter the beginning of the digit string, including the + symbol.

Exceptions—In some cases, using route priority might be difficult or some patterns should be excluded from traversing a specific trunk. The Exceptions option enables an administrator to exclude strings that would otherwise match the route pattern.
