Topology Impacts
Each Lync Front End Pool will establish connections with the configured Office Web Apps Server farm in order to establish PowerPoint sharing sessions for conferences. The PowerPoint file is stored with Lync Server, but the delivery mechanism is the Office Web Apps Server. The Lync Front End server acts as a facilitator for all conferencing modalities; it is responsible for establishing a session with the Office Web Apps Server and then providing each Lync 2013 client with a URL to view and modify the content on the Office Web Apps Server. The URL that is provided depends on the location of the user, and the topology defined. Table 19.9 outlines the content URL that is used based on the topology and client location.
