Comparing Topologies
One of the biggest planning considerations with regard to Lync Online is whether a cloud-based Lync deployment is the right choice, and if so, which cloud deployment option best meets the needs of the business. Now that the updated Lync Online/Office 365 platform is available, there are three Lync topology options to choose from: cloud-only topology, on-premise topology, and hybrid topology.
