Indexing Field Values

When you create an index of a field’s values, Access maintains an internal record of the values in a field, which the program can then use to find table records with specific values. Access always keeps an index of a table’s primary key field’s values.

Create an Index

  1. Open a table in Design view.

  2. Click the field to index.

  3. Click the Indexed property name.

  4. Click the Indexed down arrow.

  5. Click either Yes (Duplicates OK) or Yes (No Duplicates). ...
