Using Excel Charts in Word Documents

You can insert an Excel chart into a Word document by copying it from the Clipboard or by choosing Insert, Object in Word. If you paste an Excel chart from the Clipboard into your Word document, the chart arrives in picture format. The smart tag menu that appears gives you the option of switching to an embedded chart object or to a chart object linked to the source file.

As with an Excel table, you can choose Edit, Paste Special in Word to control the format in which your chart is pasted into Excel.
