Online Sales and Marketing—It’s Your World

2007 was a banner year for Black Friday in the United States. (Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year.) In recent years, a new tradition has emerged for online shoppers—Cyber Monday, which occurs when consumers fire up their home or work computers and take advantage of great online deals, reduced shipping charges, and more. (And even better, you get to skip the mall traffic!) In 2007, Cyber Monday sales were up by a full 10 percent over 2006, and they surpassed Black Friday purchases by 13 percent, for a total of 32.5 million unique Web visits on that one day! Web watchers expect the trend to continue at a similar or increased rate.
