Using Symbols in a Message

A few other options are available on the Insert tab for you to use in your e-mail messages. You can also insert math equations, symbols (such as © or ™), and horizontal lines used for visual separation.

Inserting an Equation

To insert an equation in a message, follow these steps:

  1. On the Insert tab, in the Symbols group, click Equation to create an empty equation box in your message.

  2. Use the commands on the Equation Tools Design tab, shown in Figure 9-29, to create the equation, as follows:

    • Tools. You can specify how the equation is displayed: Linear is one-dimensional for easy editing, whereas Professional is two-dimensional for display. (These two commands are unavailable until you have entered some data in the equation.) ...
