Creating and modifying data tables

Instead of creating and formatting an entire worksheet, you might prefer to use a data table to store your Excel data. Excel 2013 includes a gallery of predesigned table formats that you can use to create the table. You can then work with table information and name and resize the table as needed.

Create an Excel table

  1. Type your table headers in a single row.

  2. Click any cell in the range from which you want to create a table.

  3. On the Home tab, click Format As Table.

  4. Click the desired table style.

  5. Verify that Excel identified the data range correctly.

  6. If your table has headers, select the My Table Has Headers check box.

  7. Click OK.

Excel applies the data table format to your data.
