Creating documents

Thanks to the new Word 2013 Start screen, you can start a new document in one of several different ways—all of them simple. You can choose to open a blank document, start typing, and then embellish the content by using your own design ideas and skills, or you can use a template to jump-start your design. Additionally, the Start screen makes it easy for you to open an existing document you’ve worked on previously.

Start with a blank document

  1. On the Windows 8 Start screen, click the Word 2013 tile to display the Word Start screen.

  2. Click Blank document.

    A blank document appears on the screen.

  3. Begin typing the content for your document.
